The use of methamphetamine among some gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (“MSM”) and transgender women (TGW) is a public health concern. Health providers have an opportunity to work with MSM and TGW populations to screen for patterns of methamphetamine use, identify co-occurring health problems, and recommend strategies to minimize risk and obtain treatment in order to achieve recovery. These conversations should happen in a respectful, non-judgmental manner to minimize stigma and optimize support and treatment as well as recovery.
